Dead kings

One of my first projects where I decided to pick a theme and just run with it. Each box or tower is built around a story, and each story was influenced by the mistakes I made while building the boxes.

orrin the derelict

Orrin was a Dwarven warrior king who made a blood oath to always protect his kin. He was drunk when the invading army came. They ransacked his country and razed his castle, and he died swearing an oath to forever haunt his homeland. An undead reminder to future rulers of what may happen if you fail to honor your word of honor and your promises as monarch.

Gareth the Greedy

Some rulers have only a mind for war, some for women, and some have no mind to rule at all. King Gareth loved ruling only because it made him wealthy. He would spend his days counting his gold and treasure, and his nights dreaming of it. His great fortune was his obsession, and ultimately his downfall.

One of his great piles of gold and silver collapsed on him, and he died slowly of thirst and hunger buried under the weight of his own wealth.

Rezza the Unlucky

Some kings are tyrants, and some are great, but most of them lie somewhere in the middle. Rezza was one of those - mostly unremarkable aside from his clumsyness. Still, it was a king’s duty to learn how to protect the realm, and it was a matter of honor and tradition that Rezza learn to use weapons of war.

He shot himself in the eye with a crossbow on his second lesson.

Roland the Indebted

He was a gambler, Old King Roland. He would bet on anything, from a horse race to the weather. When the devils came for his soul, the knew they couldn’t buy it with gold - they would have to win it in a wager. There was no need for ruses and complexity. A better needs no lure but opportunity.

Roland bet his soul on a coin toss, and died when the flip went wrong.
